This year’s International Holocaust Remembrance Day and MLK Day event will bring communities together by honoring both Holocaust memory and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., highlighting Black–Jewish relations and shared histories.
The program will include a:
Holocaust and MLK Day Commemoration with the Greenspon Center & NAACP
Screening of Shared Legacies: The African American – Jewish Civil Rights Alliance (30-minute version)
Post-screening conversation with longtime civil rights leader Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr., who at 14 was an organizer with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
“The reveal” of the selected sculptor and design for the new uptown Charlotte Holocaust Memorial and reveal of the new urban plaza that will be part of the Circle of Humanity Project: Monuments for Unity and Remembrance (that will include our CLT Martin Luther King Jr. Statue.
